How to find a job as a Power Platform Developer
A guide to help you land your job, even without experience.
When I started my job search 🔎, it was not easy. So much so that I gave up and started freelancing after a couple of months.
This post will guide you as a Power Platform Developer with a good understanding of the platform to find your jobs.
Step 1. Have a good portfolio:
Having a portfolio is always important. You can do so by: Uploading your power platform solutions you have built in GitHub. I will upload a guide on this soon.
Step 2. Understand what you've built:
Many developers fail to do this. “Ohh.. I built this travel requests app….”, but why is more important. What I would recommend is: “The client or business had a problem with excel sheets being used for tracking travel request for all staffs, so I built a solution involving PowerApps, Power Automate and Power BI to ingest, automate and visualise the submissions…..”.
Step 3. Involve the Team
Trust me, one is never more than the sum of its parts. You are a small part of the development experience for the amazing product you built. Even if you were the sole developer. There's people from business who help you gather requirements, answer questions, provide valuable testing time and resources and much more. Involve them in the interviews or your articles you'll write. It comes off as amazing.
Step 4. Use LinkedIn or Seek alot
One of the good things about LinkedIn or seek is that they have a lot of content and people that you can follow. If helps you with job search and to showcase your potential employers your work and engagement.
A typical search looks like this:

Use keywords such as: PowerApps, Power Platform, PowerBI, Power Automate and Power Platform Developer
Step 5. Be passionate
As a person on both sides of the interview room, I say, passion is the most important thing you can bring to the table in interviews. Be desperate. Be knowledgeable. Eat, breathe and leave the Power Platform. And show it to everyone.
Best of luck!
